Jersey Fabric – Dresses that Give!
They say working with jersey fabric is tricky. It stretches and curls, so you have to really work with the fabric as you are working on the garment. Below are two jersey dresses that I made a little while ago, playing with what can be achieved with the jersey material. One has flat pannels that fits the body well and clings to the contours of the human form, with a skirt that waves beautifully in the breeze – It’s possible to use the natural curl of the fabric to add to the appeal of the garment! The other uses the jersey as drapery, with a gathered skirt that is collected at the back, high on the hip. This skirt was created on the mannekin – The most fun way of designing in my eyes!
